Hillary Montgomery earns Olympic Trials entry in Philly half-marathon

PHILADELPHIA – Racing in the Rock 'n' Roll Half Marathon on Halloween day, Texas A&M's Hillary Montgomery clocked a time of 1 hour, 13 minutes and 35 seconds, which earned her an automatic qualifier into the United States Olympic Trials for the marathon.
The 38th edition of the historic Philly half-marathon totaled 18,500 entrants and produced 23 men and 19 women who met the qualifying times (1:05:00 men, 1:15:00 women) for entry into the 2016 U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials, which will be held in Los Angeles on February 13, 2016.
The 22-year-old Montgomery, who was the youngest of the 19 women who ran under the 1:15:00 mark in Philadelphia, placed 15th with a time of 1:13:35 and was 13th among Americans in the field.
During Montgomery's senior season with the Aggies in 2014-15 she earned an All-America honor in cross country, broke the A&M indoor mile record, won the SEC Indoor 5,000 meters. In the outdoor season Montgomery placed third in the SEC 10,000 meters as well as fourth in the SEC 5,000 meters and reached the final of the NCAA Championships in the 10,000m.
