
Aggies earn 28 first-team All-America honors during NCAA Championships

NEW ORLEANS – Texas A&M athletes earned 28 first-team All-America honors as announced by the United States Track & Field Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) from their performances during the NCAA Outdoor Championships held this past weekend in Eugene, Oregon.
The Aggie women earned the most first-team honors with 15 All-Americans among nine athletes while the A&M men totaled 13 first-team honors among 11 athletes, which was equal to the third highest number of All-Americans.
Following the leading total of 15 first-team All-Americans by the Aggie women were USC (14) and Oregon (13). Florida led the men's total of first-team All-Americans with 15, followed by Arkansas (14), Texas A&M (13) and LSU (13).
Schools from the SEC accounted for the most first-team All-Americans with the men's teams reaching a total of 77 honors and the women's teams accounting for 78 honors. Those totals more than doubled the next two highest conferences for the men (30 Pac-12, 26 Big 10) and women (35 Pac-12, 27 Big 12).
Aaliyah Brown and Kamaria Brown each earned three first-team honors for A&M. Both were part of the Aggie 4x100 relay. A. Brown also earned honors in the 100 and 200 meters, while K. Brown received honors in the 200 and 4x400.
For her career at Texas A&M K. Brown has a total of 16 All-American honors, which is equal to the second highest number is school history. She equals the 16 attained by Jessica Beard and only trails the 19 achieved by Porscha Lucas.
With a pair of All-American honors Deon Lendore (400, 4x100) moved to the top of the men's all-time list with 13, breaking the tie he held with the previous leading total of 11 honors along with Gerald Phiri.
Aggies earning two All-American honors from the NCAA Championships also includes Shavez Hart (4x100, 4x400), Shamier Little (400 hurdles, 4x400) and Jennifer Madu (100, 4x100). Little has earned seven All-American honors in two seasons while Hart and Madu have each reached a total of six first-team honors.
Other first-team All-Americans for A&M included Gregory Coleman (400 hurdles), Latario Collie (triple jump), Ebony Crear (4x400), Olivia Ekpone (4x400), Jena Hemann (heptathlon), Hector Hernandez (4x400), Deon Hickey (4x400), Devin Jenkins (4x100), Ioannis Kyriazis (javelin), Elijah Morrow (4x100), Ashton Purvis (4x100), Bralon Taplin (4x400), Shelbi Vaughan (discus), and Audie Wyatt (pole vault).
Receiving second-team All-American recognition for placing between ninth and 16th place at the NCAA Championships were Olabanji Asekun (triple jump), Devin Bogert (javelin), Kristen Clark (javelin), Hart (200), Maggie Malone (javelin), Purvis (200), Dalton Rowan (discus), Taplin (400), Chase Wolfle (pole vault).
Honorable mention went to Brea Garrett (shot put), Hart (100), Josh Hernandez (800), Hillary Montgomery (10,000), and Purvis (100).
