
Aggies return to Hayward Field for USATF Outdoor Championships

EUGENE – Texas A&M will have seven current athletes competing at the U.S. Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Hayward Field this weekend while six Aggies will contest the USATF Junior Championships on the University of Oregon campus.
At stake are berths to United States teams competing this summer at the World Championships in Beijing, China, as well as the Pan Am Championships in Toronto, the Pan Am Juniors in Edmonton, and the NACAC Senior Championships in San Juan, Costa Rica.
Action begins on Thursday and runs through Sunday. Coverage of the national championships is available online through USATF.tv as well as on network channels NBC, NBC Sports Network and Universal Sports.

Competing on Thursday in the USATF junior meet is Shaina Burns in the heptathlon, which begins at noon (CT). In the USATF Championships Aaliyah Brown (100m), Devin Bogert (javelin) and Gregory Coleman (400 hurdles) represent the Aggies along with former A&M All-Americans Sam Humphreys (javelin), Jessica Beard (400m), Melvin Echard (long jump), Jeneba Tarmoh (100m) and Ameer Webb (100m).
On Friday Burns continues the second day of the junior heptathlon while Alison Ondrusek throws the junior hammer. In the senior division Shamier Little brings her world-leading time of 53.74 into the 400 hurdles while Ariana Ince, a volunteer assistance coach at Texas A&M, contests the javelin.
Jena Hemann opens Saturday competition for the Aggies in the heptathlon with a 1 p.m. start. Shelbi Vaughan throws the discus while Kamaria Brown races in the 200 meters. Also competing in the 200 meters are A&M All-Americans Porscha Lucas, Tarmoh, Curtis Mitchell and Webb.
Junior events on Saturday include the pole vault for Audie Wyatt, Emily Gunderson and Sara Kathryn Stevens as well as the javelin for Kristen Clark.
Sunday concludes with senior action for A&M in the heptathlon, semifinal and final of the men's and women's 200 meters as well as the final of the women's 400 hurdles.
