Texas A&M among leading teams with entries into NCAA Championship field

With the national championship fields now set for Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon, the Texas A&M Aggies enter the meet with the men ranked No. 3 and the women No. 4 in the latest national team computer rankings generated by USTFCCCA.
The total combined entries for A&M in the NCAA Championships totals 30 and is the second highest tally behind the 45 entries for host Oregon.
The 15 entries for the Aggie women, the defending national champions, rank fourth best behind Oregon (22), Arkansas (17), and USC (16) with LSU (14) fifth best. Meanwhile, the 15 entries for the A&M men rank second best behind Oregon (23) and ahead of Florida (13), USC (12) and LSU (11).
Texas A&M is also one of the top teams with athletes seeded among the top 10 going into national championships. The Aggie men have 10 entries among the top 10 with Florida leading at 11 while LSU and Oregon have nine each. For the A&M women 10 entries in the top 10 equals Oregon and Kentucky while USC leads with 11.
A week from today the NCAA Championship start with a new format as competition for the men and women are held on alternate days and coverage of the meet will air live on the ESPN network channels. Competition for the men will be held on Wednesday and Friday while the women have center stage on Thursday and Saturday.
ESPNU will have coverage on Wednesday, June 10, from 6 to 9:30 p.m. (CT). Coverage for Thursday, June 11, will be split between ESPNU (6 to 7:30 p.m.) and ESPN (7:30 to 9:30 p.m.). On Friday, June 12, the day of the men's finals will air on ESPN from 6:30 to 9:00 p.m. Then Saturday, June 14, the women's final day will air on ESPN2 from 4 to 6:30 p.m.
Live field event and combined event coverage will be available online via ESPN3, starting at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, noon on Thursday, 6 p.m. on Friday and 3:30 p.m. on Saturday.
Rankings following the NCAA preliminary rounds, and based only on the entries for the national championships, have the Florida in the No. 1 position on the men's side and Oregon topping the women's field.
The top 10 for the men's teams includes: 1. Florida, 2. Oregon, 3. Texas A&M, 4. LSU, 5. Arkansas, 6. USC, 7. Georgia, 8. Virginia, 9. Florida State, and 10. Mississippi State. The women's top 10 includes: 1. Oregon, 2. Arkansas, 3. Kentucky, 4. Texas A&M, 5. USC, 6. Florida, 7. Georgia, 8. LSU, 9. Texas, and 10. Kansas State.
While the SEC has six teams nationally ranked among the top 10 for both men and women, the conference also dominates the entries into the national championship field. The SEC accounts for 116 women's entries and 107 men's entries as the Pac-12 follows with 74 women and 71 men.
