Aggies Set to Host 2015 Conference Challenge
Sep 24, 2015 | Men's Tennis
COLLEGE STATION – Texas A&M men's tennis is set to host the 2015 Conference Challenge this weekend at the George P. Mitchell Tennis Center. The Aggies will host Illinois, Texas Tech and Harvard for a weekend full of matches.
The Conference Challenge schedule starts Friday morning with doubles matches at both 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. followed by singles matches at 2 p.m. The maroon and white are set to compete against members of each visiting school in all three time slots. The weekend is scheduled to include four sets of singles matches and three sets of doubles play.
The 2015 Conference Challenge singles field includes 12 ranked players, including five players in the top-50. The doubles field features a trio of ranked doubles pairs, including at top-5 duo from Texas Tech. The Aggies enter with a trio of ranked singles players and one ranked doubles team.
The maroon and white return to action after junior James Martell won the Midland Invitational last weekend in Midland, TX. Martell waited an entire year to represent the Aggies on the court, redshirting last season after transferring from Tyler Junior College. The lefty wasted little time making his presence known in the A&M lineup as he went 4-0 to claim the title over opponents from Texas-Arlington, New Mexico, Wichita State and San Diego.
