"We had some definite good spots and a couple of places where we could have done a little better. I'm pretty excited with Béryl (Gastaldello) breaking her own school record in the 50 free. Sydney (Pickrem) broke her school record in the 200 IM, so we broke two school records today. Bethany (Galat) had a great swim in the 200 IM with a huge best time. The 400 medley relay did really well this morning and not quite as well tonight."
Big points in the 200 IM:
The Aggies scored 33 points in the 200 IM with three swimmers earning evening swims. Junior Sydney Pickrem and senior Bethany Galat placed third and fourth, respectively, with Pickrem lowering her own school record to 1:52.35 and Galat joining Pickrem as the only Aggies under 1:54 with a lifetime best of 1:53.17. Senior Lisa Bratton chipped in two points with a 15th place effort in 1:56.09.
School record for Gastadello:
Senior sprint freestyler Béryl Gastaldello earned a fifth-place finish in the 50 freestyle in a time of 21.74. In the morning prelims, Gastaldello continued her assault on the record book as she lowered her own school record of 21.63. The French Olympian owns the 11 fastest times in the 50 free in school history and has been under 22 seconds 18 times during her illustrious career.
Medley relay takes seventh:
The Aggies placed seventh in the 400 medley relay with the foursome of Bratton, senior Jorie Caneta, freshman Jing Quah and Gastaldello touching in a time of 3:30.80.
