ATHENS, Georgia – The No. 24 Texas A&M Aggies dropped a 3-0 decision to the No. 15 Georgia Bulldogs at Foley Field Friday evening.
John Doxakis (4-1) was saddled with the loss, battling through 6.0 innings, allowing three runs on eight hits and two walks while striking out eight.
Michael Helman had his hit streak snapped at 20 games. He also saw his streak of reaching base snapped at 27.
The Aggies dropped to 20-8 overall on the season and 2-6 in the SEC. Georgia improved to 21-6 overall and 7-1 in league action. The Bulldogs clinched the series with the win.
SCORING SUMMARY
B2 | L.J. Talley started the frame with a single to centerfield and was replaced at first by Mason Meadows who hit a fielder's choice grounder to short. Meadows moved to second on a single to rightfield by Tucker Maxwell and scored on Tucker Bradley's single to leftfield. Aaron Schunk plated Maxwell with a sacrifice fly. UGA 2, A&M 0.
B4 | Talley reached base to start another frame, this time drawing a walk. He was able to steal second as Meadows hung out over the plate after swinging at strike three, impeding the throwing path for Cole Bedford. Doxakis struck out Maxwell looking for the second out of the inning, but Bradley followed with an RBI single to leftfield. UGA 3, A&M 0.
