The Texas A&M football team held their first two-a-day practice which combined the veterans and the newcomers Saturday on Simpson Drill Field on the A&M campus.
"I am pleased that we were able to get everybody through the workouts without injury," A&M head coach R.C. Slocum said. "I thought the team showed great intensity, great enthusiasm and overall I thought we had a good first practice."
A total of 105 players suited up in shorts and shoulder pads for the twin bill. Each practice lasted nearly two hours and there were no new injuries for the Aggies.
Missing the workout due to a broken bone in his foot was offensive lineman Chris Valletta from Plano, Texas. No return date has been set for Valletta, but his prognosis is good. He injured himself during the summer in a non-football related activity.
The Aggies were joined on the practice field Saturday by more than 80 participants in head coach R.C. Slocum's Aggie Football Camp. More than $40,000 was raised during the weekend long event. Slocum will present the proceeds equally between the Sterling C. Evans Library and the Fightin' Texas Aggie Band. This is the fifth year the fund raising event has been held.
A reminder to fans that all practices are closed to the public.
