The Texas A&M football team went through a one-and-half hour full pads workout Tuesday after a short delay because of the threat of inclement weather. The Aggies are off this weekend, but are gearing up for Sept. 20's game against Southwestern Louisiana at Kyle Field.
There were no new injuries.
Aggie Notables after Sam Houston State:
Texas A&M senior placekicker Kyle Bryant, a semi-finalist for the Lou Groza Award in 1996, is in the midst of a sustained hot streak. Dating back to near the end of his sophomore season in 1995, Bryant has connected on 27 of his last 33 field goal attempts for an amazing 81.8 percent success rate. Bryant might be the nation's top long-range bomber with four 50-plus three-pointers to his credit, including a 61-yard monster in 1994. Bryant is the only active placekicker in the nation with a 60-plus field on his resume'.
Aggie senior linebacker Quinton Brown (Corsicana, Texas), who missed most of the 1996 season with a cervical neck injury and was a question mark coming into this season, saw extensive action in A&M's season-opener against Sam Houston State and finished with eight tackles.
With the Aggies' win over Sam Houston State, head coach R.C. Slocum remained undefeated in home-openers. His record in home-openers is 9-0, and his record in season-openers is 8-1.
