The No. 24-ranked Texas A&M men's golf team tied for third Monday at the Missouri Bluffs Intercollegiate at Missouri Bluffs Golf Club.

No. 6-ranked Arizona won the 14-team event with a three-round total of 858,followed by No. 25 Arkansas at 869 and A&M and No. 31 Oklahoma tied for third at 870.

The Aggies were led by strong performance's from junior Ty Cox and senior Miguel del Angel. Cox finished fourth in the individual standings with rounds of 71-69- 72=212, while del Angel tied for sixth at 73-69-72=214.

Kansas' Chris Thompson won the individual title with rounds of 70-69- 71=210, three-under-par on the par 71, 7,047-yard layout.

A&M junior Ryan Palmer finished tied for 38th with rounds of 80-73-72=225, while freshman Ryan Tull and junior Matt Welch tied for 47th place. Tull carded rounds of 71-81-76=228 and Welch fired rounds of 78-76-74=228.

"I was pleased for the most part with how we played," A&M coach Bob Ellis said. "We had two players finish in the top 10. It was a real solid tournament for them. The rest of our guys were kind of up and down but we had some good play from everyone. We wanted to win but I'm not totally disappointed. We are moving in the right direction."

In addition to A&M and Oklahoma, several other Big 12 schools are participated. Kansas finished fifth at 874, Baylor was eighth at 885, Colorado placed 10th at 891 and tournament host Missouri finished 11th at 899.

The Aggies are idle until Oct. 13-14, when they play in the Red River Classic at Brookhaven Country Club in Dallas.
