Joe White, a 6-foot-10, 230-pound center from San Antonio Taft High School, has signed a national letter-of-intent to play college basketball at Texas A&M.

White is ranked as the top prep center in Texas and the No. 14 center nationally by Clark Francis' Hoop Scoop. Bob Gibbons' All-Star Sports ranks White among the top 10 centers in the country and among the top 100 seniors overall.

"He is an agile, active player with very little body fat," Gibbons said. "He runs well and just has a tremendous upside. He's got a Division I body and has the kind of frame that when he matures he'll probably weigh 245. He's got an excellent physique for a young big man."

"It came down to New Mexico and A&M," White said. "A&M is a team on the rise and I want to help them win the Big 12. I'm excited about the players they have recruited and I just felt real comfortable there."

"Joe White is a premier big man," A&M coach Tony Barone said. "At the NIKE All- American Camp this summer, Joe opened a lot of eyes. He is a big man with great mobility. We plan to play him on the perimeter as well as in post-up situations. We believe he will contribute to our program as a freshman. We love his commitment to the game and his passion to improve."
