The No. 30-ranked Texas A&M men's golf team closes its fall season Friday through Sunday at the prestigious Golf World/Palmetto Dunes Invitational in Hilton Head, S.C.
The 18-team field includes 14 teams ranked in the latest GolfWeek poll. In addition to A&M, participating teams are No. 1-ranked Arizona, No. 2 Oklahoma State, No. 5 Houston, No. 6 TCU, No. 9 Clemson, No. 11 UNLV, No. 13 New Mexico, No. 16 East Tennessee State, No. 18 Florida, No. 20 North Carolina, No. 22 Northwestern, No. 25 Arizona State, No. 30 Wake Forest, Ohio State, defending national champion Pepperdine, SMU and Jackson State.
The tournament will be played on the par 72, 6,651-yard Arthur Hills Course at Palmetto Dunes Resort.
Representing A&M will be senior Miguel del Angel (McAllen, Texas), sophomore Lee Reed (Rigby, Idaho), junior Ty Cox (Amarillo, Texas) and freshmen Clay Fullick (Baytown, Texas) and Ryan Tull (Georgetown, Texas).
Del Angel and Cox lead the Aggies through three fall tournaments, each with a 73.13 scoring average, while Reed is third with a 74.67 average.
"This is probably as strong a field as we'll face until the NCAA Tournament," A&M coach Bob Ellis said. "Almost all the teams are ranked and we're playing on a great golf course. We would like to finish the fall on a positive note and maybe gain a little momentum heading into the spring."
The Aggies open their spring schedule at the Taylor Made/Big Island Intercollegiate Feb. 13-15 in Waikaloa, Hawaii.
