* The 12th Man for the Aggies was Chad Franzen, a 6-2, 210 lb., So-SQ from Diana, Texas.
* Before the game, as a special feature of the Corps of Cadets Reunion Weekend, A&M?s Air Force ROTC presented a flyby of four USAF F-15s in observance of the 50th anniversary of the Air Force and POW/MIA Recognition Day. The four aircraft were from the 58th fighter squadron of the 33rd Fighter Wing, Eglin Air Force Base, Florida. In Operation Desert Storm, the 58th Fighter Squadron shot down 16 enemy aircraft, including the first three of the war. The lead aircraft was flown by Captain John Bond (A&M Class of ?88), the No. 2 aircraft was flown by Major Jeff Harrigian, the No. 3 aircraft was flown by Major Jay Denney and the No. 4 aircraft was flown by Captain John Bird.
* Junior linebacker Dat Nguyen posted his fourth career fumble recovery in the first quarter.
Senior linebacker Trent Driver posted his first career fumble recovery in the second quarter. Driver also caused the fumble, the second of his career. In the fourth quarter, Driver recovered another USL fumble, this one caused by freshman Rocky Bernard (Bernard?s first fumble caused).
* Randy McCown?s fumble in the second quarter was A&M?s first turnover this season.
Senior placekicker Kyle Bryant connected on a 42-yard field goal in the first quarter, his eighth straight since the Baylor game last year. With 44 career field goals, Bryant moves into sole possession of second place on A&M?s career chart behind Tony Franklin?s 56 treys from 1975-78. Bryant?s nine extra points tied his career high as the second most in school history behind Terry Venetoulias?s 10 PATs against Missouri in 1993.
CELEBRATING HIS 19TH BIRTHDAY TODAY, sophomore Dante Hall returned a punt 70 yards for a touchdown in the second quarter, the longest return of his career and the longest by an Aggie since Kevin Smith had a 73-yarder against Texas in 1991. Overall, the return ranks as the 12th longest in A&M history. Hall now has two career punt returns for touchdowns. He scored on a 69-yarder against Iowa State last year. Smith owns the A&M career record with three punt returns for touchdowns from 1988-91.
* Freshman Jason Glenn?s fumble recovery in the second quarter was the first of his career.
A&M?s 24 first quarter points were the Aggies? most in an opening period since they scored 28 against Middle Tennessee State in 1995. The last time A&M had more points in any quarter was 28 last season in the second quarter of a 63-13 win against Louisiana Tech.
