Texas A&M guard Chris Clayton will miss the rest of the season with a fractured right foot, Aggies coach Tony Barone said Monday.

Clayton fractured the fifth metatarsal in the foot late in Saturday's game against Texas Tech in Lubbock. Clayton finished the game with 10 points.

A junior from Bakersfield, Calif., Clayton averaged 6.8 points and led the team in three- point shooting, making 33.3 percent and averaging 1.6 three-point field goals per game. He started in the first two Big 12 Conference games against Oklahoma State and Baylor.

"Chris had worked very hard and was starting to get more and more playing time," Barone said. "It's a very unfortunate injury. Our main focus now is to make sure his injury is treated properly so he can play next year."

Clayton is the fourth A&M player to suffer a season-ending injury this year. Prior to the season, returning starter Dario Quesada was lost with a bulging disk in his back. In the Big 12 opener against Oklahoma State, all-conference forward Calvin Davis was lost for the season with a herniated disk in his back. Freshman T.J. Brown suffered a season-ending knee injury against Oklahoma on Jan. 31.

The loss of Clayton leaves the beleaguered Aggies with only eight players on their roster.
