Tickets for the Kickoff Classic XVI are on sale through the Texas A&M Athletic Ticket Office. Texas A&M and Florida State will meet in the Classic on Monday, Aug. 31 at 7 p.m. (central) at Giants Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. ABC will televise the game nationally in prime time.
To sit in the Texas A&M Section at Giants Stadium, tickets MUST be purchased through the A&M Ticket Office. Tickets are $35 and may be purchased by calling 1-888-99-AGGIE or 409-845-2311 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Fans can also obtain a ticket order form from the A&M website.
Tickets (not in the A&M section) went on sale on Wednesday, April 29 at 9 a.m. Tickets priced at $35 and $22 are available at the Continental Airlines Arena Box Office and all TicketMaster outlets. Texas A&M, last year's Big 12 South Division Champions, finished the 1997 season with a 9-4 record and a No. 20 rank in the AP poll. Head coach R.C. Slocum's Aggies return 14 starters, eight on offense and six on defense, from that squad.
Florida State, coached by Bobby Bowden, capped an 11-1 season with an impressive 31-14 win over Ohio State in the Sugar Bowl and a No. 3 ranking in the final AP poll. FSU returns 14 starters and 57 lettermen from 1997's squad.
In the 1997 Kickoff Classic, Syracuse trounced Wisconsin 34-0.
