The Texas A&M football team held it's first full day of two-a-day workouts Monday morning at Simpson Drill Field and in the evening at the new grass practice facility at the south end of Kyle Field.
"It was a good first day," head coach R.C. Slocum said. "It was a little ragged, as most first days are. We are still in summer school for one more day, so some guys have missed a workout. They have reviews and are studying for tests and that causes disruption to some extent. Those who are working out have been working hard and are showing a lot of enthusiasm."
Redshirt freshman offensive lineman Seth McKinney missed the evening workout after suffering from an illness that contributed to some dehydration. He is listed as day-to-day.
The Aggies veterans were joined during the evening workout by the scholarship freshman who have spent the last four days at A&M Fish Camp.
Also, the Aggies formally christened the new grass practice facility at the south end of Kyle Field during the evening workout.
"We're going to be able to use the new grass practice fields in the evening," Slocum said, "and the guys really enjoyed practicing under lights and in the cooler weather."
The Aggies continue two-a-day workouts on Tuesday in preparation for the season opener on Aug. 31 when the No. 15-ranked Aggies face the No. 2-ranked Florida State Seminoles in the Kickoff Classic at the Meadowlands in East Rutherford, N.J.
