The Tuesday night workout was the first for the entire Texas A&M football squad to be in attendance. With freshmen players attending Fish Camp and some veteran players attending classes, study sessions and finals, Coach R.C. Slocum was happy to see the entire unit.
"I thought we had good practices today," Slocum said. "Some of the players had to take finals and missed the morning workout, but it was good to see everyone out for the evening practice. It's a perfect atmosphere here under the lights and the new practice field is a great addition to our facilities."
One player who missed workouts today was Harold Robertson, a redshirt freshman linebacker from Dallas Lincoln High School. Robertson was limited in the spring with a shoulder injury and it appears he will have to undergo surgery and will be out of action for a while.
The Butkus Award Watch List was announced today from Orlando and two senior Aggies are on the 68-man list. Inside linebacker Dat Nguyen, who was one of 10 semi-finalists last year as a junior, and outside linebacker Warrick Holdman were named by the Downtown Athletic Club of Orlando. The Butkus Award is presented to the nation's best collegiate linebacker. The field will be trimmed down to 10 semi-finalists on October 15. The three finalists will be announced on November 12 and the winner will be announced, Friday, Dec. 11 from Universal Studios in Florida.
