Junior guard Steve Houston (The Colony, Texas) has been dismissed from the Texas A&M men's basketball team for violating team and university regulations, head coach Melvin Watkins said Wednesday.
"It is unfortunate that Steve will no longer be a part of our basketball program." Watkins said. "We wish him the best of luck in the future."
The 6-1 guard started in 25 games last year and averaged 9.5 points and 4.4 assists per game. Houston led the Big 12 Conference in steals at 2.5 per game and was named to the Big 12 All-Defense Team. He also was an honorable mention Academic All-Big 12 pick.
The Aggies leave Thursday for an 11-day, 5-game tour of Holland and Germany.
