A nagging back injury has ended the college basketball career of Texas A&M senior center Dario Quesada, Aggies head coach Melvin Watkins said Monday.

Quesada suffered a bulging disk in his back in September 1997 and missed last season. He attempted to return to the team this year but was still plagued by the injury.

"Dario just couldn't overcome the back injury," Watkins said. "It's unfortunate for him to end his college career this way. We are pleased that he is on track to graduate this year and wish him the best of luck."

Quesada started in 45 games in his career, including all 27 games as a sophomore in 1995-96, when he averaged 11.0 points and 5.9 rebounds per game. As a junior, he started in 18 games, averaging 6.2 points and 6.3 rebounds. He scored a career-high 25 points against Illinois-Chicago in 1995 and had a career-best 16 rebounds against North Carolina A&T in 1996.
