The Texas A&M men's golf team finished ninth at the Greg May Honda/Baylor Invitational on Tuesday at Ridgewood Country Club.
The Aggies' 54-hole total of 302-292-289=883 finished 29 strokes behind tournament champion Iowa State (292-279-283=854). Sam Houston State's Brandt Kieschnick won the individual title with rounds of 71-70-68=209, one-under-par on the 6,469-yard, Par-70 layout.
Senior All-American Ryan Palmer (Amarillo) led A&M, tying for 18th place at 74-74-71=219. Freshman Sean Gilliland (Killeen) tied for 24th with rounds of 77-71- 73=221, while senior Matt Welch (DeSoto) tied for 27th at 73-74-75=222, sophomore Casey Cronin (Rockwall) tied for 41st at 81-74-70=225, junior Lee Reed (Rigby, Idaho) tied for 64th at 79-74-79=232, sophomore Ryan Tull (Georgetown) finished 74th at 79-85-82=246 and sophomore Clay Fullick (Baytown) withdrew in the final round after posting scores of 78-73=151 on Monday.
The Aggies close their fall schedule Nov. 6-8 at the Palmetto Dunes/Golf World Intercollegiate at Palmetto Dunes Country Club in Hilton Head, S.C.
