The Texas A&M men's golf team struggled to a final round 307 but held on to 16th place Sunday in the final round of the Golf World/Palmetto Dunes Intercollegiate at the Arthur Hills at Palmetto Dunes Golf Course.
The Aggies 54-hole total of 302-302-307=911 finished 52 strokes behind tournament champion and No. 4-ranked UNLV (288-280=568). No. 1-ranked Oklahoma State rallied to an eighth-place finish with a final round 282 for an 876 total.
The Aggies finished ahead of No. 15-ranked Arizona (299-309-309=917) and No. 17- ranked Ohio State (308-314-301=923). The tournament was the final event on the Aggies' fall schedule.
Senior Ryan Palmer led A&M with a tie for 37th at 74-70-79=223, followed by sophomore Casey Cronin tied for 47th at 73-76-76=225, freshman Sean Gilliland tied for 64th at 75-76-79=230, senior Matt Welch 79th at 80-80-74=234 and sophomore Clay Fullick 90th at 84-82-78=244.
