Texas A&M starting quarterback Randy McCown will miss the Big 12 Championship Game against top-ranked Kansas State this Saturday due to injury, Aggie head coach R.C. Slocum said Thursday.

"Randy took a hit on his left shoulder when he scored the touchdown against Texas last Friday and he aggravated the injury Wednesday while throwing the football," Slocum said. "He will miss the Championship game."

Team medical personnel called the injury a "fractured clavicle or broken collarbone" on his left side.

Branndon Stewart, who has made five starts this season, will start the championship game. In no particular order, the backup quarterbacks are punter Shane Lechler, wide receiver Chris Taylor and walkon quarterback Ry Marek from Churchill High School in San Antonio.
