Missouri junior Albert White played a major role in the Tigers' No. 2 seed in the 1999 Phillips 66 Big 12 Tournament starting Thursday at Kemper Arena in Kansas City. White averaged 19.5 points in two Missouri victories including 23 points in the 54-47 win at league champion Texas and has been named the Phillips 66 Big 12 Player of the Week. For the second straight week, Texas A&M junior Cifton Cook has been named the Phillips 66 Big 12 Rookie of the Week. This past week, the guard averaged 20.0 points, 3.5 rebounds and 5.5 assists as the Aggies defeated Oklahoma and loss at Nebraska. Both honors are chosen by a panel of media observers who cover Big 12 men's basketball.

Player

Albert White, Missouri, F, Jr., 6-5, Inkster, Mich. - White opened the week scoring 16 points and pulling down 12 rebounds in the 75-64 win against Iowa State. The junior forward notched his eighth double-double of the season and also was 4-for-4 from the free throw line. In the 54-47 win at Big 12 champ Texas, White led all scorers with 23 points and added a team-high eight rebounds. White scored 13 of Missouri's first 15 points. White leads Missouri in scoring (16.4 ppg), rebounding (8.5 rpg), and assists (3.2 apg). He ranks in the top five in Big 12 scoring and rebounding - the only player in the league to rank in the top five in both categories.

Rookie

Clifton Cook, G, Jr., 6-1, Dayton, Ohio (Howard [Texas] College) - For the second straight week and fifth time this season Cook has been named the Big 12 Rookie of the Week. This past week Cook scored 19 points with five rebounds and six assists in the 74-72 upset of Oklahoma. Cook answered that with a 21-point-five assist effort in the 87-68 loss at Nebraska. For the week, he averaged 20.0 points, 3.5 rebounds, 5.5 assists and went 13-for-15 from the free throw line. Cook is eighth in the Big 12 in scoring at 15.6 ppg and is second in steals (2.58) and second in assists (5.81).
