The Texas A&M football team worked out for two hours in shorts and helmets Wednesday on the second day of spring football practice.
After the workout, Aggie head coach R.C. Slocum praised his team's enthusiasm, as well as the crispness of the passing game.
"I thought we practiced with great effort and enthusiasm," Slocum said. "We got a lot of good work in today. Our passing stood out today. We did a good job of throwing the ball and making the big catch. As always, I was pleased that we didn't have any injuries."
Spring drills are a time for experimenting, and Slocum has decided to experiment with tight end Greg Porter at wide receiver. Porter, who was an all-state tight end at Keller High School, redshirted last fall and is splitting time between football and baseball this spring.
"We want to find a way to take advantage of Greg's pass-catching skills, so we're giving him a look at wide receiver," Slocum said.
Slocum also said the Aggies would practice in full pads for the first time this spring on Thursday. The workout, which is open to the public, starts at 4:30 p.m. on the grass practice fields.
