Head Coach R.C. Slocum made a judgement call on the Texas weather on Monday and it paid off.

"If we begin meetings with our players, that day counts toward our limit of spring practices so we had to make a decision today," Slocum said. "It was pretty dark when we had to make the call. We get pretty good help on the weather and they were right, it was a great day to work. I thought the players bounced back well."

The Aggies worked for two hours in full pads on the grass practice fields. Jay Brooks, a defensive back who was taken in for x-rays on his ribs last Thursday, was cleared to return to work. Wide receiver Bethel Johnson was very limited in his work due to a hip flexor suffered last Thursday.

"Bethel is close to full speed," Slocum said. "He has good hand-eye coordination and very good speed. He's pretty raw, but he has the physical tools to be a very good player for us. If he keeps working at it, he has a chance."

A&M will workout on Tuesday and then take Wednesday off before resuming practice on Thursday. Next week (Mar. 15-19) is spring break for A&M students.
