The Texas A&M men's golf team will compete in the BELLSOUTH Yellow Pages Intercollegiate Friday and Saturday at MacGregor Downs Country Club in Cary, N.C.
The tournament will consist of 36 holes on Friday and 18 holes on Saturday for a total of 54 holes. Play begins at 7 a.m. (CST) each day.
In addition to A&M, the 12-team field consists of No. 2-ranked Clemson, No. 3 UNLV, No. 12 Minnesota, No. 14 North Carolina, No. 17 East Tennessee State, No. 18 North Carolina State, No. 24 New Mexico, Duke, Wake Forest, Kansas and Tulsa.
Representing A&M will be senior Ryan Palmer, sophomore Clay Fullick, junior Lee Reed, senior Matt Welch and sophomore Casey Cronin.
The tournament is the Aggies' final tuneup for the Big 12 Championships April 25-27 in Hutchinson, Kan.
"I've always felt that the best way to prepare for a big tournament is to play in a big tournament," A&M coach Bob Ellis said. "The BELLSOUTH tournament has a lot of great teams playing and it is on a great golf course. It should help prepare us for the Big 12 Championships."
