Texas A&M Head Coach R.C. Slocum presented a check to the Fightin' Texas Aggie Band for $30,000 and an identical $30,000 check to the Sterling C. Evans Library as the record edition of the 1999 Kickoff Camp started to wind down.

"We presented the checks to the Aggie Band and the library in front of the squad to reinforce that we are a part of this University," Slocum said. "As a football program, we appreciate the support we receive at Texas A&M. The Aggie Band is the best in the country and the library is such an important part of any institution."

The 124 campers watched the morning workout on the grass practice fields as the 1999 Aggie football team hit the field for the first two-a-day workout. The evening workout was limited to work inside Netum Steed Physiology Research and Conditioning Laboratory as lightning developed around the practice fields.

The Kickoff Camp members will hear offensive and defensive scouting reports from the two coordinators before Coach Slocum closes camp with a few remarks.

The Aggie football team, ranked 7th in the preseason Associated Press poll, will only work out once on Sunday before returning to two-a-day workouts on Monday.

The Aggies open the 1999 season on Sept. 4 against Louisiana Tech in the Independence Bowl in Shreveport, Louisiana. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
