The No. 7-ranked Texas A&M football team continued two-a-day workouts Tuesday in shorts and shoulder pads at the grass practice facility at Kyle Field.
Head coach R.C. Slocum looked on as senior defensive lineman Mike Kazmierski began getting work at the tight end position during both workouts.
"He is still going to play some on defense," Slocum said. "It's not a total position move for him. We wanted to get him some work at tight end. With Mike de la Torre hurt, we have a shortage at that position."
The senior from Bryan High School is the only senior on the defensive line. Last season, Kazmierski posted eight tackles as he saw action in all 14 games for the Aggies. Kazmierski was a tight end at Bryan where he caught 15 passes for 150 yards.
Missing both workouts Tuesday due to injury were junior defensive lineman Ron Edwards, junior wide receiver Michael Jennings, and freshman defensive lineman Shannon Mitchell.
Edwards is suffering from a groin injury, while Jennings has subluxed the patella in his left knee. Mitchell is being hampered by a left hip flexor.
Edwards and Mitchell continue to be listed day-to-day. Jennings will likely miss several workouts this week for his rehab.
Meanwhile, redshirt freshman tight end Michael de la Torre returned for the evening workout after missing Monday's practices and Tuesday morning's with a mild concussion. de la Torre saw limited participation in a non-contact role.
The Aggies will take Wednesday morning to focus on strength and conditioning off the field before donning full pads for the evening practice.
The defending Big 12 Champion Aggies begin their season on September 4 against Louisiana Tech at 7 p.m. in Shreveport, La.
