The 7th-ranked Texas A&M Aggies met the fans on Saturday morning at the annual Aggie Football Houston Cellular Autograph and Photo Day. The club finished the day with a two-hour scrimmage at Kyle Field.

"It was a very typical first scrimmage," Aggie Head Coach R.C. Slocum said. "We tried to have a game rehearsal complete with warmups before the opening kickoff."

"I saw some things I liked and some things we need to work on," Slocum added. "We have a great teaching tool with the film from tonight's work. We will assess where we are and try to get better this next week."

A few players were held out of the scrimmage including defensive lineman Ron Edwards, defensive lineman Ty Warren and inside linebacker Sean Coryatt. One concern from the scrimmage was defensive lineman Rocky Bernard who left with a strained back.

The Aggies will meet and go over the film from the scrimmage on Sunday and the team will go through a weight workout. The squad will return to two-a-day practices on Monday.

Texas A&M opens the season on Sept. 4 in Shreveport, Louisiana, at Independence Stadium against the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs.
