The Texas A&M men's golf team carded a final-round 302 on Tuesday and finished third at the "Big E" SMU Stonebridge Shootout at Stonebridge Country Club.

The Aggies' three-round total of 293-289-302=884 was 13 strokes behind tournament champion Kent State (282-290-299=871) and only one stroke behind runner-up North Texas (284-294-305=883). Baylor finished fourth at 889, followed by Louisiana-Lafayette (892), Stephen F. Austin (896), SMU (898), UT-Arlington (902), Rice (904), SMU-JV (908), Arkansas-Little Rock (913), Arkansas (914), Texas Tech (917), Sam Houston State (925), Tulsa (936) and UT-San Antonio (943).

Freshman Matt Lindholm (Georgetown, Texas), making his college debut, led the Aggies with a fifth-place finish in the individual standings with rounds of 72-69-76=217, 10 strokes behind champion Aaron Pellegrom of Baylor (65-71-71=207).

Other A&M scores were senior Ty Cox, tied for 12th place at 71-74-76=221, junior Casey Cronin, tied for 21st at 77-75-73=225, sophomore Sean Gilliland, tied for 33rd at 75-71-82=228, and junior Matt Loving, tied for 47th at 75-80-77=232.

The Aggies return to action Oct. 4-5 at the Windon Memorial Classic at Conway Farms Country Club in Lake Forest, Ill.
