October 05, 1999
The 1999 Melvin Watkins' Texas A&M Coaches and Fans Clinic, featuring former North Carolina Charlotte coach Jeff Mullins, will be Saturday, Oct. 23 at 10 a.m. at Reed Arena.
The clinic is open to all basketball coaches and fans. With regular practices closed to the public, the clinic may be the only chance for fans to get a inside look at the 1999-2000 Aggies. Admission is $35 in advance and $40 at the door and includes lunch, a coach's notebook, a tour of Reed Arena and the Netum Steed training facility, and an opportunity to watch the Texas A&M basketball team practice, including the nation's No. 14-ranked recruiting class.
Mullins, a five-time NBA all-star and an Olympic gold medalist, is the winningest coach in North Carolina Charlotte history with a 182-142 record from 1985-96. Mullins, with Watkins serving as his top assistant, led the 49ers to two conference championships (1988, 1995), three NCAA Tournament appearances (1988, 1992, 1995) and two NITs (1989, 1994).
