Aaron Jack, Texas A&M center:
"We have eight new people on this team and it's tough. We have some young guys, but we are really talented. We are going through some growing pains, but we have some great guys on this team with some great attitudes. JB (Jerald Brown) and I don't have many games left here, so we're trying to win as many as we can. It's good for our mentality to get a win, even though it doesn't really count."
Jerald Brown, Texas A&M forward:
"I was pleased with a lot of stuff we did tonight. We had a lot of turnovers, but we played well as a team. We're young and we have a lot of work to do. We need to look at the tape and correct some things, but we'll be alright. I feel comfortable with that (playing down low with back to the basket). I did that in high school, so I'm used to it. I like it because it gives me more chances to help the team out."
Melvin Watkins, Texas A&M head coach:
"I was pleased in a lot of areas. We knew coming in we had a lot of areas to work on with all the new faces. This team (Calif. All-Stars) beat Georgia Tech and Vanderbilt, so if that's any indication then I'm very pleased with the win. (on freshmen Gilchrist and King) They've got potential to score that many points every night. I was pleased for them to give us that type of leadership. We got off to a slow start. There was some hesitancy to shoot the ball, but that's why we play these exhibition games. We believe our offense has to start with inside touches. At first, we weren't doing that, but we found it. That will open up our perimeter game. In some ways I wanted us to lose the lead. It's crazy for a coach to say that, then I got a little nervous. I wanted to see us in that situation and how we'd react to it."
