A&M Head Coach Melvin Watkins:

"I think the kids have worked hard all week and they would have liked to perform better on opening night. The two areas that bothered me tonight were transition defense and rebounding. They hit some tough shots but on our transition defense we got confused and they beat us on that. I am focusing on the things we did not do right. I am not looking for excuses. I thought we would go with a smaller lineup during the game because we weren't rebounding well and we needed more quickness on defense. These kids won't quit, we will grow together and fight back. There is a lot of season left and I know we will bounce back from this."

A&M Forward Aaron Jack:

"I don't know if I'd say I was babysitting. We are young but that's no excuse. This is a team we should have beat. These guys have been in battles before. There is no excuse, we didn't play defense. We missed a lot of shots. Give them credit they out rebounded us and we didn't come up with any offensive rebounds. We have to be better on the boards, but we can't give guys open shots and easy lay-ups. They out played us but that is a team we have to beat."

(on Jerald Brown being hurt) "We need him especially down low. They will not delay games because of injuries."

A&T Head Coach Curtis Hunter:

"Our first win feels good. It felt especially good on the road against a good A&M team. We finally put two halves together. It was a tough game for A&M because it was their first ballgame of the year. You need game experience to be ready to play. They have a lot of young players and they need to get some playing time together."

A&T Forward Tarrell Robinson:

"Their young players played like they were experienced. They played hard and in the second half they made a good run at coming back."
