The Aggies started four true freshmen and one senior
UNT made 13 three-pointers, third most ever by an A&M opponent
Freshman Guard Bernard King:
"We just started off a little slow tonight. We gave it a hard fight at the end. We just have to keep that intensity the entire game. I give them credit. They played a good game and had a good game plan. We are just going through some growing pains right now."
Freshman Forward Larry Scott:
"Both teams played with a lot of intensity tonight. We just wanted to come out and play better defense and execute better on offense. We definitely still have some work to do."
Head Coach Melvin Watkins:
"We got down, but we didn't quit. I was pleased with our effort; we just came up a little short tonight. It was good to see Carlton Brown pick up his game. Attitude was the main thing we were looking at. We got down, but we re-focused and got back in the game and had a chance to win. They hit some tough shots, but that's the way they play. You have to give North Texas credit. They did what they had to do to win at home. Every time we go on the court this season, we want to see our team get better. We have a lot of room to improve. Every time we step on the floor we learn something about each other. I feel much better than I did Saturday night. We are concerned and bothered that we didn't get the win. We've got to get better, but we don't want them to get their heads down. I really believe in this group and before the season is over I think we're capable to playing some good basketball."
