SFA FORWARD RON BANKS:
"We played pretty good defense tonight. We ran our offense the way Coach (Allister) wanted us to. We just couldn't get it done down the stretch."
SFA GUARD HENRY HOWARD:
"This is the best we've played all year. We just haven't been in this situation, we haven't been in a hostile environment. We're going to learn from this experience and try to get better."
SFA HEAD COACH DEREK ALLISTER:
"The kids gave a great effort tonight. It's always tough to go on the road and win. I really like A&M's kids, they have a lot of talent. They're going to be very good in the future. I was very pleased with the way our guys ran our offense tonight. We've just got to convert some of our easy chances. We played really well for 38 minutes tonight, we've just got to find a way to put an entire game together."
TEXAS A&M HEAD COACH MELVIN WATKINS:
"We're relieved to get our first win. You've got to give credit to SFA. They played us until the last click on the clock. We've got lots of work to do, we've just got to figure out where to start. We made so many mental mistakes. We have talent but mentally, we're making too many mistakes. We're doing things you can't do at the Division I level. We're not playing as a team at all. The execution is not there. There are no shortcuts, we've just got to practice. With Jerald (Brown) hurt, we're having to play with people out of position. We took Jamaal (Gilchrist) out early in the ballgame because his head wasn't in the game. He got the message and played better toward the end of the game. (on Virginia Commonwealth) They have beat some good teams, including Louisville. We told the guys that if we play like this against them to expect a 40-point game in their favor."
A&M FORWARD AARON JACK:
"We didn't play too well but it is nice to get a win. There were a lot of negatives tonight but there were some positives. We just have to take the positives and try to get better and get ready for Sunday."
Aaron Jack posted his first career double-double (career high 11 rebounds and 11 points).
