Texas A&M Head Football Coach R.C. Slocum announced the hiring of Ron Milus as defensive backs coach on Sunday.
"I'm delighted to name someone with the capabilities of Ron Milus as our new secondary coach," Slocum said. "I've known him for several years and I consider him a top notch person, as well as a top notch coach. He will make a great addition to our coaching staff."
Milus, a native of Tacoma, Washington, played football at the University of Washington and went on to play for the San Diego Chargers. After spending three seasons coaching with his father at Lincoln High School in Tacoma, Milus returned to his alma mater as a graduate assistant for the 1991 season.
In 1992, he became the youngest assistant coach in the Pac-10 Conference when Washington hired him as a full-time assistant coach. He spent the last seven seasons with the Washington Huskies.
"I've been fortunate to be a part of an excellent program at the University of Washington, but the opportunity to join Coach Slocum and a program like Texas A&M is a dream come true," Milus said. "I really expect great things to happen here at Texas A&M."
Milus and his wife, Sandra Sloan-Milus, have two sons-- Ryan (8) and Bo (5).
Milus replaces Larry Slade who went to the University of Tennessee.
