Texas A&M sophomore Ja'Mar Toombs and senior D'Andre Hardeman were selected two of the nation's top fullbacks by Lindy's 1999 College Football Annual.
Toombs, a native of Kilgore, Texas, is Lindy's pick as the No. 1 college fullback in the country. "He looks more like a guard in the backfield," Lindy's said, "but he is far more than just a blocker."
Toombs carried the ball 86 times for 422 yards and three touchdowns as a true freshman. He burst onto the scene against Nebraska when he carried the ball 10 time for 110 yards in A&M's 28-21 win over the No. 2 Huskers. For his accomplishments, Toombs earned Freshmen All-American mention.
Hardeman, from Houston, Texas, is Lindy's selection as the No. 4 fullback. "Touchdown Tiki" is tied with Bucky Richardson and Joel Hunt for No. 6 on the all-time rushing touchdown list.
As a junior, Hardeman was the Aggie's third-leading rusher with 508 yards and 7 touchdowns on 91 carries. Texas A&M opens their 1999 campaign September 4, in Shreveport, Louisiana against Louisiana Tech at 7 pm.
