The Texas A&M football team opened spring drills with a two-hour workout on the grass practice fields in shorts and helmets.
"I was pleased with the enthusiasm," Head Coach R.C. Slocum said. "We've had good off-season workouts and it carried over today."
Slocum took on additional duties on Monday as he coached the defensive line. Shawn Slocum worked with the defensive backs, while Alan Weddell worked with the inside linebackers and defensive coordinator Mike Hankwitz continued to work with the outside linebackers.
Outside linebacker Roylin Bradley had his knee scoped earlier in the spring and did not work out on Monday.
Ellison Collins, a redshirt freshman from Huntsville, Texas, worked as a wide receiver on Monday. Collins worked in the defensive secondary last fall.
The Aggies will work Tuesday and Wednesday of this week with practices beginning at 4:30 p.m. The squad will take a day off on Thursday before returning to the practice field on Friday at 4:30 p.m. The Aggies will end the week with a 1 p.m. scrimmage at Kyle Field on Saturday.
