The Texas A&M football team continued spring workouts Tuesday in shorts and helmets during a rain-soaked practice at the grass practice facility at Kyle Field.

Joining the Aggies for his first spring workout was sophomore wide receiver Greg Porter, who will be splitting time this spring between football and his duties as a third baseman and designated hitter for the A&M baseball team. This season, Porter will wear jersey No. 44 on the football field, which is the same number he dons on the diamond. Previously, he wore No. 85.

Also, returning to the team Tuesday was placekicker Russell Bynum.

"Russell Bynum took his physical earlier today and cleared," A&M head coach R.C. Slocum said. "He had surgery this spring and just needed the medical clearance or he would have been out here sooner. We are excited to see him compete and see how he stacks up against the others."

Bynum will see his first practice on Wednesday and he will wear jersey No. 37. He connected on 16-of-21 field goal attempts in 1998 as he ended that season with nine consecutive makes. He was also successful on 30-of-31 point after attempts.

There were no new injuries to report.

The Aggies will put on full pads for their Wednesday practice which begins about 4:30 p.m. at the grass practice fields. Spring drills are open to the public.
