The Texas A&M men's golf team ends its regular season at The Maxwell Saturday and Sunday at Dornick Hills Country Club.
The tournament will be the Aggies' final tuneup for the NCAA Central Regional May 18-20 in Victoria, Texas. The top eight teams from the regional will advance to the NCAA Championships May 31-June 3 in Auburn, Ala.
The Maxwell will consist of 36 holes on Saturday and 18 holes on Sunday for a total of 54 holes on the 6,442-yard, par-70 layout.
In addition to the No. 39-ranked Aggies, the 13-team field includes No. 3 Oklahoma State, No. 4 Georgia, No. 10 Houston, No. 22 South Carolina, No. 23 Texas, No. 31 Oklahoma, No. 32 Mississippi State, No. 33 Southern California, No. 44 Tennessee, SMU. Louisiana-Lafayette and Oklahoma City, the nation's top-ranked NAIA team.
Representing A&M will be sophomore Sean Gilliland (Killeen, Texas), junior Casey Cronin (Rockwall, Texas), senior Ty Cox (Amarillo, Texas) and freshmen Dwayne Morley (Houston) and Matt Lindholm (Georgetown, Texas). The same lineup also will represent A&M at the NCAA Central Regional.
"The Maxwell is always a fun event to play in," A&M coach Bob Ellis said. "It's important for us to play well and build some confidence and momentum going into the regional next week. The guys are playing well and I expect us to turn in a solid performance."
