The Texas A&M men's golf team fired a final round of even-par 280 on Sunday and finished tied for ninth at The Maxwell at Dornick Hills Country Club.

The Aggies carded rounds of 287-299=586 on Saturday, but junior Josh McCoy and sophomore Dwayne Morley each broke par in Sunday's final round as the Aggies carded the second best team score of the day on the par-70, 6,442-yard layout.

McCoy tied for ninth in the individual standings with rounds of 69-76-67=212, eight strokes behind individual winner Anders Hultman of Oklahoma State, who carded 70-67-67=204. Louisiana-Lafayette's Richard Ainsley was second at 69-68-69=206. Morley tied for 16th with rounds of 73-71-69=213.

Unranked Tulsa won the team title with rounds of 285-284-279=848, two strokes ahead of No. 13-ranked Oklahoma State's 850 total. No. 5 Texas was third at 853, followed by No. 22 Auburn (854), No. 16 Oklahoma (854), No. 6 Southern California (858), Colorado (862), No. 19 Houston (863), A&M (866), Pepperdine (866), Toledo (867), Arkansas (870), Louisiana-Lafayette (872), Oklahoma Crimson (873), SMU (884) and North Texas (891).

Also for A&M, freshman Stephen Reed tied for 46th at 73-75-71=219, freshman Duke Butler tied for 58th at 72-77-73=222 and senior Casey Cronin finished 87th at 77-81-78=236.

The tournament was A&M's final tuneup for the NCAA Central Regional Thursday through Saturday in Stillwater, Okla.

"Like we have so much this spring, we had two good rounds and one poor round," A&M coach Bob Ellis said. "The positive we bring out of this is that we bounced back very strong from a poor second round. We hope that gives us a lift as we head to regionals later this week. I was especially pleased with Josh and Dwayne. They put up some great scores on a tough golf course against outstanding competition."
