Texas A&M newcomers and veterans practiced together for the first time this season with a pair of workouts on the Aggies' grass practice field.

"Today was a good start for us,' Aggie head coach R.C. Slocum said. "We practiced with great enthusiasm and looked very crisp for it being first day. It's apparent that the players worked very hard over the summer, and are ready to go."

The Aggies will take on Notre Dame in South Bend, Ind., in their season-opener on Sept. 2. The game will be televised nationally by NBC.

ANNUAL KICKOFF CAMP RAISES $60,000 --- Proceeds from the Texas A&M's annual Kickoff Camp will allow the Aggie football program to "give back" to the University.

The camp, which was attended by 116 supporters ranging from age 25 to 85, will send $20,000 to the Sterling C. Evans Library, $20,000 to the Fightin' Texas Aggie Band and $20,000 to the University's Capital Campaign. The $20,000 for Capital Campaign was donated in the name of the Aggie assistant coaches for "their extra time and effort," A&M head coach R.C. Slocum said.

EVERLINE DISMISSED FROM SQUAD --- Redshirt freshman linebacker Jessie Everline, from Bryan High School, was dismissed from the Texas A&M football team for violating team rules, A&M coach R.C. Slocum said.
