The Texas A&M football team had a spirited evening workout on Thursday while preparing for the Sept. 2 season opener against Notre Dame in South Bend, Ind.
"It was a good practice," head coach R.C. Slocum said. "We had a scrimmage on Wednesday night and so we only had meetings and some weight workouts this morning. We came back to the practice field this evening with good intensity. We ended the practice with some goal line situations and both sides were getting after each other pretty good."
Returning to practice from injuries were offensive tackle Michael Mahan and running back Richard Whitaker.
The Aggies' injury woes continued when sophomore defensive end Ty Warren left the practice field with a sprained ankle. Early indications from the A&M training staff are that Warren could miss a week of practice. The Aggies lost senior defensive end starter Rocky Bernard earlier this week with a season-ending knee injury.
"This is a major problem," Slocum said. "We're down to two healthy defensive ends and two true freshmen."
