The No. 24-ranked A&M football team practiced twice Friday at the grass practice facility adjacent to Kyle Field.
Head coach R.C. Slocum ended the evening workout early after seeing good work and enthusiasm during the workout.
"This was a good workout for us," Slocum said. "We had guys bouncing around and working hard. We're a little banged up right now and when guys get hurt the others get more reps. So we ended a few minutes early to give the guys some extra time to rest before tomorrow."
Among those who missed some or all of Friday's workouts are senior offensive lineman Chris Valletta with a bruised muscle near his hip, freshman defensive back Adam Black who was ill, freshman defensive back Dawon Gentry who was experiencing back spasms, and freshman defensive back Keelan Jackson who underwent an observatory knee scope. All are listed as day-to-day.
Slocum also announced the arrival of junior transfer defensive back Mike Pinesette to the evening workout. Pinesette, from LaMarque, Texas, recently graduated from Blinn Junior College and was awaiting the clearance of procedural paper work before he could begin practicing.
The Aggies will welcome fans to Kyle Field on Saturday morning at 10 a.m. for a photo and autograph session before returning for a scrimmage on Saturday night. The scrimmage is closed to the public.
The Aggies will open the season on September 2 against Notre Dame in South Bend, Ind., in a game that will be nationally televised by NBC Sports.
