The Texas A&M football team concluded two-a-day workouts on Friday with a two-hour scripted scrimmage.

School starts for Texas A&M on Monday, Aug. 28, and the Aggies will return to a regular workout schedule.

"Overall I was pleased," Aggie Head Coach R.C. Slocum said. "We wanted to go through everything from coming out of the locker room in our position groups, to substitutions in all phases of the game."

"We've had good effort from the players during two-a-day workouts, but the frustrating part has been the injuries," Slocum stated. "We've lost three guys (offensive tackle Alan Reuber, offensive guard Billy Yates, and defensive end Rocky Bernard) who we were counting on to start or play important roles. We've also had a number of players who have missed time. We would like to be in a position to put some polish on the team next week, but we've got a lot of work to get done."

Evan Perroni, a defensive end, returned to practice on Friday with a shield protecting his eyes.

A number of players were still missing action on Friday and two additional players were added to the list as freshmen defensive backs, Adam Black and Jonte' Buhl, missed work due to hip flexors.

The Aggies, ranked #24 in the USA Today/ESPN poll, will open the season on Sept. 2 against the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana, in a game which will be nationally televised at 12 noon central on NBC Sports.
