Texas A&M middle blocker Heather Marshall was named the Big 12 Volleyball Athlete of the Week, the conference office announced today.

The senior from Carrollton, Texas, had a solid all-around performance in every match last week, hitting .588 and averaging 4.30 kills, 3.40 digs and 1.70 blocks per game as she led the Aggies to three consecutive wins.

Marshall recorded a career-high and match-high .632 hitting percentage as she tallied a match-high 12 kills and no errors in 19 attempts in the Aggies' home opener against Houston on Wednesday. In addition, she collected match-high honors with five blocks in the three-game sweep.

At the Longhorn Classic in Austin, Marshall had 13 kills and captured match-high honors with 15 digs and five blocks in the three-game sweep against Washington. In the four-game victory against Eastern Washington, Marshall bettered her career highs with 18 kills and a .739 hitting percentage. In addition to collecting match-high honors in kills and hitting efficiency, Marshall registered a match-high seven blocks, including three solos, against the Eagles.

Marshall's efforts over the weekend led the Aggies to a 2-0 record at the Longhorn Classic, leaving them as the only undefeated team at the tournament.

The Aggies, 4-2 overall, open Big 12 play Wednesday at Missouri. First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Hearnes Center in Columbia, Mo.
