Aggies and Jayhawks to Square Off in Big 12 Match

The No. 19 Texas A&M volleyball team (4-3, 0-1) hosts the Kansas Jayhawks (9-0, 1-0) Friday at G. Rollie White Coliseum. First serve is scheduled for 6 p.m.

A&M dropped its Big 12 opener Wednesday at Missouri, losing in three games. The loss ended the Aggies?â„¢ three-game winning streak and also ended a nine-game winning streak against the Tigers.

Kansas defeated Colorado Wednesday in Lawrence, Kan. in five games, claiming its first Big 12 victory of the season. It was the first victory over the Buffaloes for the Jayhawks since 1987. The Jayhawks return three starters from last year?â„¢s team which finished seventh in the final Big 12 standings.

Texas A&M is 9-0 all-time against the Jayhawks since the series began in 1990. Last year the Aggies defeated Kansas, 15-7, 15-11, 15-7, in Lawrence and 15-4, 15-7, 15-8 in College Station.

Kansas is led by senior outside hitter Amy Myatt, who is averaging 5.06 kills per game. The Jayhawks are hitting at a .307 clip and holding opponents to a .195 hitting percentage. Texas A&M is led by senior middle blocker Heather Marshall, who averages 3.33 kills per game and leads the team with .365 hitting percentage. Junior setter and All-America candidate Jenna Moscovic leads the Aggies with an average of 12.17 assists per game.

Texas A&M?â„¢s next match is Wednesday, Sept. 20, as the Aggies travel to Norman to take on the Oklahoma Sooners. First serve at the OU Fieldhouse is slated for 7 p.m.
