The Texas A&M men's golf team carded a final-round 298 on Tuesday and finished tied for 12th at the 13th Annual Taylor Made Red River Classic at Dallas Athletic Club.
The Aggies' 54-hole total of 297-280-298=875 was 11-over-par on the par-72 layout. No. 23-ranked Southern California won the tournament with a 16-under-par 848, followed by No. 13 TCU (851), No. 5 Texas (853), No. 19 Oklahoma (857), SMU (859), No. 7 Brigham Young (866), Duke (866), No. 10 Houston (868), No. 18 Kent State (869), No. 12 Oklahoma State (869), Washington (873), A&M (875), Ohio State (875), LSU (886) and Arkansas (891).
Southern California freshman Hunter Mahan won the individual title with a 12-under-par total of 72-65-67=204, one stroke ahead of runner-up Craig Lile of Arkansas (66-68-71=205).
A&M was led by freshman Stephen Reed, who tied for 17th with a two-under-par total of 72-66-76=214. Also for A&M, senior Casey Cronin tied for 34th at 70-73-76=219, junior Sean Gilliland tied for 57th at 78-69-75=222, sophomore Dwayne Morley tied for 66th at 81-74-71=226 and freshman Duke Butler tied for 74th at 77-72-81=230.
The Aggies return to action Nov. 6-7 for the Greg May Honda/Baylor Invitational in Waco.
