Texas A&M senior Terence Kitchens (Lumberton, Texas) is a semifinalist for the ninth-annual Lou Groza Placekicker Award, the Palm Beach County Sports Commission announced Friday. The award, which is named for legendary placekicker Lou "The Toe" Groza, is given annually to the nation's top placekicker.
Currently the most accurate placekicker in school history, Kitchens has connected on 13-of-16 field goal tries in 2000 for an impressive 81.3 percent success rate. Kitchens is a perfect 12-of-12 from 40 yards and closer.
For his career, Kitchens had made 28-of-39 field goals for a 71.8 success rate, which is on pace to break the school record of 70.6 percent set by Kyle Bryant from 1994-97. Bryant was a two-time Groza semifinalist.
