Aggies Sweep Iowa State, 3-0

The 24th-ranked Texas A&M volleyball team got back into the win column with a sound 15-3, 15-12, 15-3 victory over the Iowa State Cyclones Saturday before 237 fans at Hilton Coliseum.

Texas A&M (16-7, 11-5 Big 12) raced out to a 12-0 lead to open game one. The Aggies hit .295 and posted 20 kills and held the Cyclones to eight kills and a .030 hitting percentage en route to the 15-3 win.

ISU (2-24, 0-17) took a 4-0 lead in game two before A&M answered with eight consecutive points. The Aggies built a six-point lead at 11-5 before Iowa State rallied for seven points to regain the lead at 12-11. Following a timeout, the Aggies regained serve and Tara Pulaski tied the score with a kill. Michelle Cole put A&M ahead at 13-12 with a kill off the block. A Cyclone kill error increased the lead to two before Cole ended the game with a service ace.

The Aggies broke open an early 3-3 tie in the third game, scoring the final 12 points to close out the match with a 15-3 win. Christy Clark and Carol Price teamed on a block to end the game which saw A&M out-hit ISU .400 to -.077.

Erin Gibson led the Aggie offensive attack, posting a match-high 14 kills, while Christy Clark bettered her career-high for the second consecutive match with 11 while hitting a personal-best .529. Defensively, Gibson completed the double-double with 11 digs while Claire Harvey had a match-high 12. Tara Pulaski had a career-high nine blocks on the night.

For the match, A&M out-hit Iowa State .297 to .103 and posted 60 kills to the Cyclones' 32.

The Aggies return home on Wednesday, Nov. 15 when they play host to the Baylor Bears. First serve at G. Rollie White Coliseum is set for 6 p.m.
